What is ESOS?
Introduced by the UK government in 2014, ESOS drives cost-effective energy efficiency across large UK enterprises. Organisations in scope must carry out a detailed energy audit every 4 years, secure Director-level sign-off, identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and report compliance to the Environment Agency.
Lately there has been a shift in focus from reporting to progress, with the addition of Action Plans and Annual Progress updates. Organisations should have submitted their Action Plan and are now preparing to deliver their first Annual Progress Update by 5th December 2025.
